Wolnzach/Hüll, 21. Oktober 2019 Last week, eight selected beer bloggers and influencers from all over Germany met in Hüll on Thursday under the motto “Hopfenforschung meets beer experts and hop enthusiasts”.
The managing director of the Society for Hop Research, Walter König, had invited the creative people of the social media scene who are behind the blogs “Feiner Hopfen”, “Der Hopfenschmecker”, “Biermaniac” or “Craftbeerfluesterer” to an interesting and entertaining day. The event began with an insight into the hop bonitation for the hop champion 2019. Here the participants could look over the shoulder of the many experts from the brewery and hop sector during their evaluations and also judge the different varieties from different German growing regions themselves according to smell and appearance.
Mr. König then presented the almost 100-year history of the Hop Research Centre as well as its working groups and research priorities. Before the participants set off for a tour of the premises and the modern laboratories, they were able to have lunch and a beer tasting. The beers, which were brewed with 100% “Diamant” or “Callista” or “Ariana”, which are still quite new on the market, were well received and showed the extensive aroma potential of the hop varieties bred in Hüll.
